Word 2003 Heading 4 style does not number correctly

Debby

I have now had this issue of 2 different Word 2003 programs. I use headings
often and am finding out the Heading 4 will not number correctly. An example:
Instead of continuing numbering after Heading 3 (3.1.1.) it numbers starting
over (1.1.1.1.). I have gone into the modification of the numbering and tried
different options, yet cannot get it to be correct. I had this issue on
another WORD 2003 program and cannot remember how to fix it. Microsoft help
just tries to sell me stuff instead of fixing their problem!!

The following article explains how to set up outline numbered styles:
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html

About your Heading 4:
Note especially the description below "2.3 Numbering for all lower levels"
in the article. You must set your Heading 4 to restart numbering after level
3.
