The first time I created a document in Word 2003 and clicked on the Printer
icon, I was thrown into a state of confusion. It turned out that my HP
inkjet, which I thought was the only printer installed on my computer, was
no longer the "default," and something called the Document Image Printer
was.
I got that corrected, but I'd really like to know about this new printer.
I'm assuming that it's new with 2003. At least I've never noticed it before.
What does it do and why is it needed? Is it something like a fax printer?

I think it is something like a fax printer, and it can be used with Internet
fax services (see

TT=1) In any case, it appears to permit you to create multi-page TIFFs from
a Word document.
