My Word 2000 program will no longer open in my Windows XP Home edition operating system. It worked fine until 3 months ago. the computer came preloaded with the Word 2000 sp-1 software (MSoffice) Did something expire?
I can click on the Word Icon and the program opens for about 7 seconds then a message comes onto the screen that says "the program has encountered an error and will need to close" Has anyone seen this happen themselves? Help is appreciated before fall classes start!!!

| If you have the word/office cd, then do a repair of word.

sr or sp means that it is an updated version [service
release or service pack]
There is a repair option on the help menu.

| The "Word 2000 sp-1" as it was labeled on the CD was
included in the MS Office Suite CD that came with the
computer. I reloaded the program, but still does not operate
correctly. Is the "sp-1" or "sr-1" suffix to the Word 2000
some type of trial version, it ran for over 18 months!?

Very possibly. A lot of new machines seem to be coming with a 90 day
trial version of Office, so as to get you nicely hooked and then find
you need to go and buy a quite expensive license for it
