reinstalling word 2000 on xp

My first post didn't have enough info; Word 2000 was somehow deleted on our
xp. We have the cd to reinstall it, but I can only get half thru the
installation when I get the prompt that I have the wrong cd inserted and I
need the windows home edition service pack 2 cd, which we of course don't
have. Service pack 2 was installed on our computer via download when it came
out. Word 2000 SR-1 is located on our workssuite 2001 cd. thanks for any help!

Are you SURE that the program was actually uninstalled (it's pretty hard to
do that by sheer accident) or is it just the icon and start menu item that
is missing?
(Do a search on your computer for winword.exe, including hidden files. If
you find it, the Word was NOT uninstalled)

I didn't know how to slipstream; after a google search, I attempted to integrate the two files w/o any luck; the file was too big to fit on a cd (the integrated file was over 700 mb). Then I just tried to copy sp2 to a cd and that didn't work either - wouldn't allow to copy?!.I also tried to just integrate word w/ sp2 (my installation cd is for Microsoft works and it won't let me just install Word). So I've spent half of my Sunday and still don't have word. My kids need it for school and my husband has to bring his laptop home when they need to wirte a report

That was the first thing we tried; it's gone. We have disk issues with our computer; 5 teenagers have music stored and we're constant;y being reminded of low disk space. I'm pretty sure one of the kids deleted it trying to free up space w/o knowing what they were doing!

So your kids have administrator accounts? BAD MOVE. Change them to Limited,
and put a STRONG password on all other admin accounts then they won't easily
be able to delete things they aren't supposed to.

They have their own accounts, however MY account is the one that is usually up and it's such a pain to log out and log back in (excruciatingly looooong)!

Then there is something majorly wrong with your machine.

I agree; it's 5 years old and we could definitely use an new one; with two in college, we have to make this one work. Thanks for the help :]

I don't think that it will be (excruciatingly looooong) or (expensive) as
this problem will be.
