Hi =?Utf-8?B?bWd3ZWJi?=,
I'm still using Word 2000. No problems till now. Suddenly, and I suspect
after the installation of Vista, the grammar checker doesn't work. All the
choices are grayed out so that I can't change the settings. Any ideas?
Try re-installing it? Go to Control Panel/Software, choose your Office (or
Word if it's stand-alone) entry and "Change" (or Repair if that's offered).
You need to "customize" the installation, so you need the full tree of
components. Spelling and Grammar are shared Office components. Uncheck the
grammar stuff, then run the Setup. Then go through the steps again, this time
activating the checkboxes for grammar checking. With any luck, that will
re-install and re-register (Registry is probably the problem - Vista may have
renamed some folders where things are located but didn't update the Registry.)
Note, however, that Word 2000 was not designed with Vista in mind, so it might
not install properly. All you can do is try.
