word 2000 blank document template

When I click on the New Blank Document icon a used document opens and I have
to delete the text to use it. How can I save the change it so it opens as a
blank document again?

I would open up a new doc, just as you have done...make your changes (delete
everything on it), try to close out the document, and then Word should
generate a pop-up box that will notify you that you have made changes to your
normal / global doc...would you like to save them? You should click 'yes',
and hopefully when you open it again, it should be clean!
