Won't someone please take a second to advice me

In Outlook Express. When I try and send to multiple
addresses in the TO: line, I get name checker screen,
insists I add all those names to addy book. Then when I
attempt to add them it says the e-mail addresses are not
valid. I am going crazy
 
Tools>Options>Send>Automatically put people I reply to... (uncheck)

Tools>Accounts>Directory Service> [service] > Properties>Check names...
(uncheck)
