wont shut down or stand by

i have recentlly had some help to remove nasty spyware and hijacking software
on my pc,i stupidly went too kazza and d/l the software anyway all thats gone
now ,,but i am left with a shut down and stand by problem.i was wondering if
i system restored right to the first one would i lose all my prog,s and files
and also would the nasty spyware and hijacking stuff come back,,,or can
anyone advise me plz,,,many thanks in advance
