Outlook will not open; it stays in an opening position. I shut it down and
try to reopen and I get a message to do a soft opening. That fails, then a
window comes up to detect and repair. That opens up half way and then gives
an error reading that the files cannot be found.

How can i download detect and repair. Ot is that what i should do?

Note: I have been having problems with opening windows also. After hours on
the web, i was told to do a recovery. I have ordered a new hard drive and
will then transfer materials over from the old drive and external drives. I
would just like to get outlook opened before the new hard drive comes home

What version of Outlook do you have? Is it 2002 or older? If this is the case
and you use a PST (personal folders), it could be you've reached the size
limit. Please advise.

Was the PST created in Outlook 2003 or was it brought in from an older
version of Outlook?

If the PST file was created in Outlook 2003 then size is not an issue. Did
you try scanning the PST for errors?
