Won't let me delete/reinstall IE

Every time i open IE it says:

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Then asks me for an error report etc... Anyway it just
pops up that msg when i try to open IE right away. I've
tried to uninsteall or delete it so i could insteall it
again but it won't even let me delete it. It says other
programs are using it so i can't delete it, but i dont'
have anything else open! I've tried DLing it from the
microsoft website but when i try to install it it just says
i already have it. I'm like, I know i have it but it
doesn't work.

Anyway, any help would be greatly apreciated since this one
site i like needs me to use IE instead of netscape, plus i
like IE better but it just doesn't work for me.

So i guess my question is, how do i totaly delete IE so i
can reinstall it fresh? I've even thought about
reinstalling win XP.

Reinstalling won't help. Check your system for "hijackware":

Run in this order:

1. CWShredder (fix all)

2. Ad-Aware (fix all)

3. Spybot (generally, fix all in red)

Important: You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each
and every use, even "right out of the box". But even they can't catch
everything, 24/7. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 for expert analysis, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
