won't let favorite site download

when i try to download a table at my favorite game site,
a pop-up ad downloads first with 'xads---as the title of
the pop-up. i also saw 'ruleforblue' as the window
opening up instead of microsoft internet explorer. any
suggestions is greatly appreciated.
