Hey all,
I'm a recent victim of a browser hijack and couldn't fix it. After getting
extremely frustrated (it installed a search toolbar and changed my homepage,
along with spamming me with numerous popups) I decided to fight back the old
way. I went through the windows registry and deleted anything having to do
with Internet Explorer then reinstalled IE. I got the browser working again
and the hijacks and other mischievous programs are gone, however I can't do
windows update anymore. It will put this in the address bar:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ but then will only show a blank white
page with no graphics or text on it and in the status bar it says "Done"
like it's finished loading the page. Any ideas on how to fix it? I may have
deleted an entry in the registry that I shouldn't have..let me know
