won't connect

OK. I have setup remote desktop on my XP pro machine.
Downloaded the web software and configured IIS. As well I
have configured my fw to direct both port 80 andd 3389 to
the Xp machine. Internally I can connect using the rdp
client or through the net by IP. From work if I use the
client the connection times out saying it could not find
the machine. If I go through the web I get the logon
screen but the connect button is not active. I am at a
loss. Oh and it's not a fw issue at work as many analysts
there use the rdp client to access their home machines.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thankyou
Jay

Regarding the webclient, the Connect button not being active usually implies
that the ActiveX control has not been properly downloaded. Check your IE
settings to download ActiveX control with prompt. Also make sure you delete
any existing msrdp.ocx file (usually in windows\Downloaded Program Files)
from your machine. Now try connecting to the webpage and download the
ActiveX control. Hopefully this fixes the problem through webclient.

Regarding the rdpclient, can you tell us what error message you get when you
try to connect and addtionally see if there are any event log messages in
the WinXP machine.
