Decided to try my hand at imaging my c drive and I'm confused. Using
DriveImageXML I processed the c partition writing to a folder on my d
partition which created:
Drive_C 672,000kb Dat file
Drive_C 16,293kb XML file
Drive_C.001 thru Drive_C.006 672,000kb 001 thru 006 file
Drive_C.007 569,788kb 007 file
These files are too large to burn to a cd so I must be missing something
here. I obviously want to place this on cd and not keep it on my
harddrive, so what do I do now?

Burn it to 7 CDs. That's why it has been divided into chunks a little
under 700MB each.

I alt.comp.freeware, sa Tim utan att tänka först:

Why not 8 CDs?

Hi,

There are two options for splitting in DriveImage XML. The first is
not to split up the files (this is the default when you first install
it). This will create one big file. If you have a dual layer DVD
drive+dual layer DVD disk, your image (if you used this option and did
your PC image again), might just fit on a single DVD. 8 images of
roughly 700MB each, about 5-5.6GB, too big for a single layer DVD, but
small enough to fit on a dual layer DVD. The second option is to split
up the images automatically, and this is what you have selected. You
don't get to specify a size here though - DriveImage assumes that
because you selected this option, you must only have a CD burner (and
not a DVD burner), and thus splits it to less than 700MB so you can
burn each split image file to a single CD (each).

It sort of sounds like you want to have the entire image on a single
disk. If so, you will need to turn off the split image and (due to the
size of your image), have a dual layer DVD burner (with a dual layer
DVD disk of course).

Thanks for that. No, I just wasn't sure what to expect. I only have
cdrom so the multiple cd thing was fine,
