(WMP) Playing Difficulties

I use windows vista home premium. Windows media player 11 works fine however
during playback getting towards the end of a track it stops and starts as if
a cd playing has been bumped. However the files are stored on my hard drive i
have tested using my usb stick and playing files from that however the same
things occur. Is this a program problem, and if so is there any fixes to this
problem?

this resource was written for XP it may work for Vista???
