WMM2 wont let me preview Transitions and Effects before applying to a clip.

I have a new HP Media Center 2004 that came with WMM2
preinstalled. It also came with the Plus!Digital Edition
preinstalled, but i had to pay the $20 bucks so i can
have the Key to use it. The thing is that i like to use a
lot of the Transitions and Effects, so i need to preview
them so i can choose which one to use for each clip. But
when i clik on a Transition or an Effect, WMM2 does'nt
show it on the preview monitor window. It just stays
black. Is this a known bug?
By The Way....everything alse about the program works
fine. Also, the problem is with the Transitions and
Effects only, my video clips do show fine on the preview
monitor. And if i do use a Transition or an Effect it
will preform. It only wont show if you click on them to
preview before applying. Please Help !!

Hi there,

I am not sure, but this might just be a codec problem. Codecs are used
by a multitude of graphics based programs including DVD software. I have
written a small program called "Rename Codecs" that you can download from my
website.Basically it finds all known problem codecs and gives you the chance
to rename them. After doing that try running Movie Maker again.

Whether or not my program helps you must run it again to recover the
codecs it renamed for you. You do not need to know anything about what its
doing...it takes care of the lot. Others (quite a large number now) have
reported success and only two had no luck...
