Why do the transitions/effects hang or skip

i have made several movies using wwm. Now all of a sudden, while previewing
(before saving to my computer) the transitions hang or skip. I am not using
any more transitions/effects than I have previously and those turned out
great. I have a huge deadline and the movie is crap!! Someone please help!!

Had the same problem with transitions looking horrible, staggered and also
experiencing coloration effects.
All went away when I rolled back my NVIDIA drivers to the default drivers
(WDDM) that came with Vista!
I was running a 7950T card then, now I have the problems back using a new
8800GT card. The 8800Gt has
no native Vista drivers and hence I have to run the latest drivers from
Nvidia which are causing this problem for me.
