WMI???

krishi

Hello,

I have win 2000 server connected to the main server(win
2000). And some other clients(XP Pro, me, 2000 pro). When
i click "connect to another computer" from Computer
Management snap-in, i have given XP Pro computer name. Its
connected. When i click properties, its displaying
error "WMI Access denied". What is this error.

Actually in the connect to another computer, its showing
only the computers(my local system, win 2000 pro and my
server only). There i am giving manually the computer name
of XP Pro. No error here. When i go properties its giving
error.
What is meant by WMI access denied.

Hello,

Thank you for posting.

I understand that you are unable to connect to other systems from computer
management console. The system displays error message 'WMI Access Denied'

Please try the following suggestion and check if it resolves your issue.

1. Click on start -> run -> type "gpedit.msc" (without quotation marks)
2. Click on OK.
3. Navigate down to:

"Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings ->
Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment".

Please verify that the LOCAL SERVICE account is specifically granted
"Impersonate a client after Authentication" right.

If it is missing, please add the SERVICE account.

I hope the above information helps to resolve your issue. If there is
anything unclear, please feel free to let me know. Thank you and have a
nice day!

Rashmi
