WMI Sys Summary won't connect

Hello,

On my W2K Advanced Server, Administrative Tools>computers>select a computer
and right-click>manage>system summary. Then I get the message

"The connection to pc.domain.domain.net could not be established. Check to
see that the network path name is correct, that you have sufficient
permission to access Windows Management Instrumentation, and that the
Windows Management Instrumentation service is started on the computer."

I have another W2K advanced server that is a DC for a child-domain to the
parent DC above. This second server can manage it's client hosts.

Comments?

1. Can you do a system summary agaist the same host from a different
server? Using the same ID?

2. Does the ID you are logged into on the W2K Advanced Server
DC have admin rights on the host you are querying?

3. Is the Host you are querying have Windows Management Instrumentation
service installed? If so, is it running?

It is not a question of if a DC can manage computers that are members
of its domain, it is a question the ID you are using having rights to
manage those hosts.
