Information system: wrong path

hi!

when I run the System Information (system tools) I got the
following message:

"System Information report written at: 07/02/2003 06:36:15
PM
[System Information]

System Information
The connection to could not be established. Check to see
that the network path name is correct, that you have
sufficient permission to access Windows Management
Instrumentation, and that the Windows Management
Instrumentation service is started on the computer.

How could I modify the path so that it'll point to the
correct file? or reinstall the component?

I'm using W2K Pro, service pack 2 and I'm the
administrator & sole user of the PC.

Hi Eric,

Assuming you have "sufficient permission", that is, you are logged in as the built-in
Administrator. And assuming you have used services.msc to verify that both of the
services mentioned have a Startup Type set to Automatic, and that the Status of
Windows Management Instrumentation is Started...

You could try to "modify the path" by using System Information (msinfo32) at the
command-line (cmd.exe), with the /computer parameter.

For example, if your Full computer name is "home-eric", as seen when you run Control
Panel > System > Network Identification [tab] > Full computer name, try running the
following at the command prompt (cmd.exe):

start /wait msinfo32.exe /computer home-eric /nfo c:\syssum.nfo /categories +SystemSummary

This should create a file named c:\syssum.nfo with your System Summary information.
