WMI may be corrupt

I can't enable firewall since I have the message WMI
corrupt. I have followed the instructions in the
Microsoft knowledgebase document Microsoft "Knowledge
Base Article - 319101 Error Message: Windows Management
Instrumentation (WMI) Might Be Corrupted".

This has not fixed it though. I have used system
restore,downloaded all the latest service pack, patches
and worm removal but still it does not work.

Would this also explain why I keep getting popup ads from
byebyeads.com?

for the popups i think it's because you got some spywares
in your computer. you can try to remove the spyware by
using any spyware removal softwares like spybot search
and destroy
