WMI and RPC dependencies

H

Henrik Andersson

When I connect a Windows 2003 Server to a domain where the Domain
Controller runs Windows Server 2003 I cannot access WMI data for the
connected server. I try to logon with both domain admin and local
admin but I get Access denied.

One thing I have noticed is that all dependencies for both the RPC
service and for the WMI service disappear after I join the domain. I
think this is the source of my problem since WMI depends on RPC. Does
anyone know why this might happen? Is it possible to configure service
dependencies on the DC or the local server?

When I disjoin the server from the domain I can access WMI again. When
I disjoin the server I can also see dependencies for the RPC service and
for the WMI service again. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in
advance.
