wmf

I'm looking for a Netscape 7.1 plugin that enables the browser to view
..wmf files. I'm using XP Pro, which has the ability built into it
already, but I was wondering if there is anything specifically for the
browser.

This is something I saw several years ago, and I'm still unclear as to
its EULA. Might be of some use to you:

It's a java applet that seems to have its peculiarities on IE, maybe NS
too, but purports to support both.

Thanks very much for the link, but from the description I gather that it
is meant for web pages and not browsers. Do you get the same impression?

Yes, it seems to be for authoring, rather than viewing. Sorry for the
bum steer. I've not seen anything like a plugin. Rather remissly, the
browser writers overlooked viewing scalable vector graphics for many
years, until the SVG format appeared. On many occasions I've wanted to
display scalable/zoomable vector files on web pages, but to no avail.
Let's know if you find anything - I'll keep a lookout too.

You don't say what version you're using? If it is one based on
Mozilla, then you might want to check Mozilla plugins page to see if
there is one for .wmf files. Unfortunately, I am unable to find the
plugins page I was looking for...I was there a few days ago but now I
can't find it.

Pardon me - may I ask what is wrong to set the 'Helper Applications' in
preferences to open wmf with IrfanView or something similar?

Maybe the friendly people at alt.binaries.clip-art know more, they post wmf
files from time to time and they love them.
