2003/7, grouping and emf files

with older Office products, I'm used to creating an image in PP, grouping
into a single object, creating an wmf and inserting that in Word. However,
now there's a problem.

I received a ppt from 2003 and I'm on 2007. The objects won't group
correctly, so I can't create my wmf.

I "select all", and multiple objects are selected. However, when I try to
group, "group" & "regroup" are disabled and only "ungroup" is enabled. If I
ungroup, the objects do ungroup, but then grouping again still doesn't group
all the objects into a single one. It shows as single, but right clicking and
saving as a wmf only saves a few of the objects that are supposedly grouped.

Can anyone tell me why it's not working properly and how to get it to do so?
BTW: Don't suggest using file formats that are only good for 2007. The client
isn't on it yet so I have to use compatibility mode.

Which all shapes you trying to group?
Powerpoint don't support grouping of some shapes types like placeholders,
pictures in photo album etc. Also there can be some shapes which are groups
like table. So when you select them, you might find a ungroup and not a group.

Thanks,
Vindys

The problem is that I'm not grouping any new objects I couldn't successfully
group in the older version. It seems like MS has messed up and changed
functionality again. No surprise there, just disappointment.

I'll try the paste special. I've never had to use it before, so thanx for
the tip.
