WM download all the emails again after imported from OE

Hi, please help me out with this problem.

I have created my account on windows mail. Then I have successfully imported
my old mails from outlook express. And I move all the old mails from
"imported inbox" to the new "inbox". There are about 5000 old mails in the
box.
Then I connect to the internet and start downloading new mails. But what
happened is that windows mail downloaded all the mails from very begining!
That means I will have more than 5000 duplicate old mails if I allowed it.
Please tell me if there is a way to let it recognize those imported old
mails and just download from the end of the old mails.
Thank you.

That feature depends on the mail server options (not your end).
For example, Gmail has a setting under their POP option to
download only new emails.
If your ISP doesn't offer that option, then connect to the server
via your web browser, and move all the old emails to a different
folder (not the Inbox). POP3 clients like Windows Mail will only
download from the Inbox on the server mailbox.

Incidentally, it is probably is not good to keep that many emails
in the inbox of Windows Mail.

Thanks for your help.
I am using Yahoo as my web mail.
It worked fine all along because outlook express knew what had been
downloaded and what haven't and it only download the new ones.
But windows mail do not knwo that those old emails are there already (even I
have imported them and moved them to the inbox). It just treat all the emails
on my server as new one and download it from the first email.
Can I fix it?
Thank you.

Windows Mail does not look at the messages in the Inbox to see what has been
downloaded, it look's at it's own record of what IT downloaded. They were
on the server and it had not downloaded them so it downloaded them. It's
not very smart.

You can only fix it as I suggested earlier: by going to http://mail.yahoo.com
and moving your existing messages from the webmail inbox to a different folder.
