not all messages were imported

Hi,

I was trying to move my mesages from old laptop with Ms Outlook into new
computer with Vista Mail. I transferred them into OE on the old comp first
with no problems and then moved the whole folder to a location on the laptop
with Windows Mail and imported them from this folder using Import from OE6.
Everything would be great if not the fact that only approximately 10% of all
messages were imported (1300 messages in all folders). I repeated importing
and the results was the same. The problem is mainly with Inbox where the
smallest no of emails was imported. Does WM have some capacity limits in
terms of no of emals it can store or where could be the problem and how can I
fix so I have all of my old emails in WM?

Hi Brink,

That's exactly the website I used for guidance when I was importing the
messages and the problem occured anyway.

Hi Shawn,

Yes, I did, otherwise none of messages would be imported I guess. Definitely
there must be the reason behind why WM chose to import only a part out of all
messages, I hope to find with your help:)

All read only attributes have been removed. I'll try to do the whole
exporting-importing process again to see if it helps. What WM does now when
importing from dbx files, it says it copies 1,2, ...up to 20 messages out of
200 and then it says it has finished although the remaining 180 were not
copied. I remember that when I was importing for the first time I cancelled
the operation at the beginning, maybe it somewhow corrupted the files, so
I'll transfer them again from the outlook. Hope it will help. I'll let you
know in 3 days once I have access to my old computer.

Thank you for your help.

If that doesn't work you can use DBXtract to extract the messages from the
DBX files as individual EML messages. They can then be dragged into a
folder in an open Windows Mail.

Thank you Frank, if repeating export-import process doesn't work, I'll try
your suggestion and let you know about outcomes on Mon or Tue.
Have a good day,

So I did exporting-importing process again and again and finally I imported
all of my messages. During the course I discovered that
1. Once I copied files from OE storage folder and pasted them to Vista
computer, WM would always import the same insufficient amount of message from
the same copied files, no matter how many times import action would take
place. Therefore I had to copy them several times from OE untill WM decided
that this time it likes this particular file enough to import all messages.
2. I imported them directly from my stick, as opposed to copying files first
from my stick to Vista computer, as that shorten file corruption possibility.
3. As I was not able to copy the whole OE storage folder to my stick,
previosly I copied half of files and moved them to Vista computer, and than
copied to stick and moved to Vista the remaining part. That way did not work
for importing all messages (only some were imported), so what proved to work
was copying folders.dbx file plus e.g. inbox.dbx file to stick and that way
one folder by one I was able to import all messages from specific folders
directly from my stick.

I still don't know why these problems occured, but I have them solved now,
so if anyone else encounters the similar ones,I hope my posts will be of some
help.

Thank you for your assistance!
