WLM - No sound out

Guest

I am running Vista Ultimate and WLM 8.1 with a Logitech Communicate STX. In
the Audio and Visual Setup wizard everything works fine. (I can also record
and playback audio and visual.)
When a connection is made everything works except for my sound. None is
generated and the microphone volume bar shows no activity. (The same camera
works just fine with WML on my laptop.)

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Control Panel > Sounds >Recording tab
Set the microphone as default and click the Configure and Properties buttons to
set it up.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it is already set as the default recording
device.

And you've gone through the Tools > Audio and video setup... in Windows Live
Messenger?

Sorry...reread your message and saw that you had already tried that.
Have you tried other messenger software (Yahoo or AIM)?

No I haven't. I only have one contact (poor, lonely me :)) and am reluctant
to ask him to install other software.

We've found the cause for an issue in Vista where the microphone/speaker
device will not work in Video Call (even though it works in Voice Call and
other applications).

For this particular issue, the work around is as follows:

- Launch the tuning wizard via Tools->Audio and Video Setup
- On Step 1: Speaker Setup, make sure the checkbox "Click here if you are
using headphones" is NOT checked.

We will be adding the fix into a future release.
