Have a look in the Device Manager and see if the Device is malfunctioning,
to access the Device Manager do the following:
Right click My Computer and select Properties, on the system Window click on
Hardware Tab then Click on Device manager.
Try to uninstall and Reinstall the Driver for the Broadband and see if that
will solve the Problem.
Did Sky didn't say what Settings are there to look at or just settings?.
You could have a defective Modem, so it is Sky responsibility to renew or
help you in this, if it is the case!.
Did you scan your computer for malwares and Viruses lately?.
HTH.

If you can do so, try using a CAT 5 cable instead of USB to connect. You
will get a more reliable, faster connection, and you won't need special
software installed. When I first installed my cable modem, I tried using
the USB connector that came with it. I had to install drivers, and some
provider-specific software. When moved, and installed my new broadband
system, I used a CAT 5 cable (you need an Ethernet card to do this). I
was able to simply plug in all my hardware, and the internet connection
just worked. No configuration of any kind was necessary.
