I have a laptop at a business. There is an 802.11b
wireless card built on in it. I am using a linksys
802.11b router/switch. I set up the encryption on it and
on the laptop. It will connect for about 5 minutes but
then it sees the building accross the street's wireless
network and trys to switch over to that channel. I have
tried to set it to only use channel 6(our channel) but it
keeps switching to channel 12(their channel) and then it
will not work. Is there any way to lock it to channel 6
permanantly?

Thanks
James

James,

Two settings:
1) Enable SSID broadcast on your router, giving it a vague enough value to not
cause any security problem.
2) Under WZC for the laptop, disable "Automatically connect to non-preferred
networks", then designate your router as the only preferred network.
