wireless connection keeps dropping

hi:

i have set up a wireless router (802.11b) and it works,
sort of ...

I'm not able to keep a connection for more than a few
minutes without having to reconnect. I connected another
desktop to this router and had no problem.

the connection shows excellent signal strength and works
like a champ for about 5 or 10 minutes then i have to
reselect network.

i changed channel but had no affect. disabled Wireless
Zero Configuration (WZC) in the systray and that
stablized the connection but the laptop could not find
the wireless network after it is rebooted.

help!!!

Check the Authentication options in your wireless network adapter's settings
and make sure that you don't have 802.1x authentication enabled. You'll
find this by right-clicking your wireless adapter in the Network Connections
box, selecting Properties, then the Authentication tab.

the street next to my house will be able to use my
wireless connection?

Uh, no. The 802.1x authentication selection only works if you have a
certificate server running on your home network. It has nothing to do with
WEP/WPA or other encryption features your router may offer.
