Hi,

I am trying to setup a home wireless network without an
Access Point. There are only 2 computers on the network:
one laptop and one desktop. The information for each
computer is as below:

Laptop:
Windows XP Home
Integrated Wireless 802.11g
Workgroup: MSHOME
SSID: Mshome
Channel: 11
Wireless mode: Ad-hoc

Desktop:
Windows ME
USB Wireless 802.11b adapter
Workgroup: MSHOME
SSID: Mshome
Channel: 11
Wireless mode: 802.11 Ad-hoc

I can see detect the Mshome network on each computer but
I can't see each other?? There is only one type of Ad-hoc
mode to choose from on XP and I don't know if the it is
802.11 Ad hoc or just Ad hoc. I tried to change the
desktop wireless mode to just Ad-hoc but it didn't work.
I don't know if the different file system is the problem
(NTFS and FAT32). Please help.

Thanks a lot!

Try creating a user on your ME machine with the same
username and password as your Xp machine.
