Wireless printer and IPA

Teti Garf

I have installed an HP 1320nw (Q5929A) Laser Printer and it works
perfectly> only one problem:
some of the work I do require the use of IPA (Internat.Phonetic
Alphabet), and I was very disappointed when I found that the printout was
showing some symbols unknown to me, rather than the intended phonetics
symbols. I have never had problems with the older printer, an inkjet and, as
I don't know much about this technology, I wander whether some of you could
help me.

Many thanks in advance.

Alphabets are known in computing as "character sets"
i.e. we may need to know both the operating system
you use, the writing application, and the character
set (that includes IPA symbols.)

Thank you for your time. I use Times New Roman in Microsoft Office Word 2003
and IPA font downloaded from SIL International.
I translate Italian text into English. First line Italian phonetics, second
line Italian in Times New Roman, third line in English Times New Roman, all
is spaced and aligned by tabs.
I hope that this information is sufficient to help me.

Many thanks.

Please don't top-post, as it makes responding difficult.

You don't say what operating system, driver, or page description
language you are using, but this sounds like a font problem.

For PostScript drivers, somewhere in your printer driver there is a
place to say "Download TrueType Fonts" instead of "Substitute Printer
Fonts". That will usually solve font problems.
