Wireless optical mouse

Hi, installed a Microsoft wireless optical mouse but it is not working
properly, no difference when connected with USB or PS2 port.
Using Win2k with SP4.
Anyone had the same problem?

Hard telling. Any error messages? Driver properly installed? maybe
motherboard BIOS issue or drivers if VIA chipset?

Hi Bob, motherboard is Asus P2B and to my understanding the chipset should
be Intel?
Anyway, there is no error message and the drivers are the latest possible,
downloaded from Microsoft.
The problem is cursor movement and respons to button-clicks, neither work as
they should, the cursor is moving "in short steps" and respons to clicks
happens only now and then.
Everything is installed according to directives and programs that came with
the product.
My old PS2 mouse is working fine and there are no conflict or other errors
in hardware settings either.

In the mouse settings is there an adjustable update frequency? Some have
them, some don't.

Try different batteries. Try moving the receiver away from the
monitor or computer power supply. I have the receiver for my Logitech
about 8 inches from the monitor with no issues. Dunno about MS's
product...
