Wireless Networking

Todd

I upgraded my system from Millenium to XP Home Edition. I
recently purchased a Linksys Wireless B Router and USB
Network Adapter (802.11b). The router is working fine on
a new computer, but the network adapter (on the subject
PC)is not working. After hours of troubleshooting with
Linksys, they determined that it was an issue with the
installed version of Windows XP. For some reason I do not
have the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration option
listed on my device list. I was told this function is
built-in to XP and it should automatically recognize the
adapter. The driver for the adapter is installed and
claims to be working properly. Why don't I have this
Wireless Zero Configuration option and what can I do?

Thanks

Wireless Zero Configuration is a service. Look in the list of services.
It's startup type should be "automatic".

I had exactly the same problem with the wireless adapter
and ended up returning it. I now have a wired router,
which I have not installed yet.

I was not impressed with the knowledge of the Linksys
support people. And they never figured out why it doesn't
work. I was on the phone for over 6 hrs total and never
got it to work properly.
