Wireless Keyboard and XP Power Management

I recently purchased a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 which
has a wireless optical mouse included. There is a single USB
connector. The mouse and keyboard work great except for one annoying
problem. The Windows XP Power Management functions including the
screensaver will not work any more. I have disabled power management
in the motherboard bios, but still no screensaver. If I yank the USB
cable or plug in a wired keyboard, the screensaver will function
normally. I tried pulling the batteries from just the wireless mouse,
thinking maybe it was just too sensitive, but still no screensaver.
Any ideas before I take the wireless setup back and get a wired setup?

I took the Microsoft keyboard set back and picked up a Viewsonic
wireless set which is very similar to the Logitech. Works great and
doesn't even require any software. It figures that Microsoft hardware
won't work with their own operating system. It's not even worth trying
to figure it out. End of problem. Thanks.
