wireless internet connection

Help!
we have a desktop, Dell Dimension 4500. We have a Dell Truemobile wireless
plugged in, and it receives a signal from our Linksys wireless router. Our
system operates on Windows XP, Home Edition. Last Sunday, a condition started
where we could not access webpages. During the week, we have tried
reinstalling the wireless adaptor, restoring the programs, and everything
else we've been advised to do by Dell, Linksys, Wide open west, and friends
who have more knowledge than we do. We've run the connection wizard, but
still have to manually enter the updated IP numbers, it will not update
automatically. 2 other pc's in the home do update automatically, and connect
to the 'net easily.
When I found someone from Linksys the other evening, we tried doing a ping
to numerical addresses. They pinged perfectly, but when we tried pinging a
domain name, no response was received, and nothing happened. My theory is
that the system isn't converting domain names to numerical addresses. Is this
possible? What can I do to correct this problem? We cannot access any domain,
whether we use Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Please let me know what next step to take!

Thanks in advance for you help.
