Can't connect to the internet?

We have a Dell GX280 40 GB that has been working fine. WE have Comcast for
our two computers. One is a Mac and the other the PC. Yesterday we downloaded
some training DVD's for various office programs, then removed our trail
version of Microsoft Office 2007 which had expired. After that, wanted to go
to the internet and it would not connect. Something popped up from Wizard
saying "do you want to connect to the ethernet?" Didn't know what that meant,
so we checked no. Now we cannot get into the interent. The Mac works fine
through the modem and we connect the PC with a Linksys router. Can anyone
help?

Thanks.

The Mac works fine through the modem and we connect the PC with a
Linksys router.

I assume that the Mac connects directly through a _cable_ modem? Then
how does your Linksys router connect to the cable modem? Modems
usually only have one LAN port. Do you switch cables? If you do, you
should power off and repower the modem when swapping cables.

Ideally, you should have your router's WAN port connected to the cable
modem and the router's LAN ports connected to your Mac and PC.
