Wireless dongle problem

Hi Group

Wonder if anybody out there can shed some light on the problem I am having.

I have a Compaq Laptop (1.4Ghz, 512kb, winxp home etc) and am trying to get
it set up on my wireless network. I bought a Dell Truemobile 1300 Wireless
USB adapter and everytime I plug it in my laptops usb (either of the 2
ports) the machine completely slows down and cannot be shutdown in the
normal way and it doesn't come up with the 'new hardware found' bubble.

On looking at the windows processes it is a 'system' process that is running
at 99% and even after unplugging the dongle it doesn't go down and as I said
It will not turn off unless you hold the power button.

I have tried the dongle on a PC and it's 100% fine, PC says found new
hardware etc....and the laptops usb's are Ok as they are used for a printer,
flash drive, camera & phone....

So I am a bit baffled as to why as the dongle & Laptop won't work together.

Any suggestions/answers would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you may have both the Dell wireless service/configuration
and Microsoft's Wireless Zero Configuration both configured/active.
Turn one off (usually I would turn off the "additional" device service
-- Dell's.)
