wireless connection

I just purchased a Belkin Wireless USB Network Adapter. I
have installed it in my Dell desktop running Windows XP.
Device Manager says it is working properly, but it shows
up as a network adapter, not a wireless device. "Wireless
Link" dose not sohw up on Control Panel nor does "Infrared
Devices" show up under Device Manager. All of the advice I
get on support sites tell me to go to Wireless Link under
Control Panel. What to I need to do to activate the
wireless device?

I'm not sure why you're expecting an Infrared device to show up, but
anyway. Even though it's a wireless LAN adapter, it's still a network
adapter.

Did you install the Belkin software that came with the unit or are you
relying on WinXP? My Belkin card isn't USB, but they recocmmend using the
Belkin software, and point out that it's important to install it *before*
hooking up the card to the system. You might want to see what your manual
says.
