I have Windows XP Pro. I'm trying to connect a wireless
USB conncection to my computer for internet using a D-
Link wireless signal hooked up to my LinkSys router.
I've tried the D-Link, LinkSys and SMC wirelss USB
connector devices in my XP computer. Every time, I get a
connection and "singnal strength" indicator but never can
connect to Internet. I can't believe that all three
devices are no good. What am I doing wrong???

You may have a good signal stregth, but does it also show that you are
connected (not just that the connection is available)?

Have you verified that you've been assigned an IP address? At a command
prompt, type ipconfig /all. If you're unsure of what you're looking at,
respond back here with the results.

lack of caffeine.

On my router it has a special 'code', like a serial number I must enter
to join the network, I think it stops unauthorised wireless access. If
I fail to do this I do not get a connection, but I do get signal strength.

Have you done this? Mine was on the bottom of my router (a serial
number) which I had to enter in my wireless connection. I also had a
bug in my d-link wireless card (510) that I had to delete the hardware
and refind it to aknowledge these changes.
