Wireless and video camera problems

After I wake up my notebook from stand-by or hibernation, I usually have to
reboot the system before my video camera will work on Skype. I have often had
to reboot as well as for the wireless to work.

I am using Windows XP and service pack 3 came installed. Got the Dell
notebook in February, 2009. Is there any way of overcoming these problems. I
have lived with it but it is a bit of a bummer.

Thanks. Norm.

Open Device Manager, open the properties on USB port, click the Power
tab, and _deselect_ "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save
power". Do the same thing for the wireless device, if not USB. A
NIC/Ethernet card also has this power option.

Many thanks, Elmo. Have turned off the USB port as you suggest. The wireless
was already turned off. Thanks for the advice and I'll watch it over the next
day or so as I put it to standby and hibernation.

Norm.

Elmo - any other ideas? I thought we had the problem fixed but this morning
when I put the notebook into hibernation, the video camera on skype didn't
work until I rebooted the computer. Same earlier problem, it would seem.

Thanks. Norm.
