WinXP SP2 BSOD/STOP C4 error

Hello,

I am getting frequent STOP C4 BSODs on my WinXP Home box. I have
scanned for viruses, spyware, etc. and this does not turn up anything.
I googled for STOP C4 but couldn't really even find any hits on this
particular STOP error. I occasionally get a STOP 7E thrown in also.
I have not added any new hardware or software lately. It is a mystery
for sure. Has anyone else experienced STOP C4 errors?

Write down the full Stop Error and research it here:

Frequently getting different Stop Errors may indicate failing hardware.
Do some hardware troubleshooting, starting with the RAM:

I found out that Microsoft just released a patch for the STOP 7E
problem:

Update for Windows XP (KB900485)
Install this update to resolve an issue in which you receive a "stop
0×7e in aec.sys" error message on a computer that is running Windows
XP Service Pack 2. The error may occur during startup, or after the
system has started. AEC.SYS is the acoustic echo canceling driver.
After you install this update, you may have to restart your computer

I did try this, however I still get both STOP 7E and C4 errors. I will
check the memory with MEMTEST 86+ when I have a chance.
