WINXP SP2 and Sygate Personal Firewall Pro

Edward W. Thompson

I access the web via an ADSL modem/router that has a firewall and have
recently tried to load Sygate Personal Firewall Pro v5.5 onto my WINXP Pro
SP2 system. No matter how many hoops I jumped through Sygate blocked access
to the web. I set everything to 'allow' and disabled the WINXP Firewall but
without result. Directly I disabled Sygate I could access the web.

Has anyone got Sygate working sucessfully with WINXP SP2?

I have Sygate 5.5 on three systems here with no problems. However, it
was installed before I installed SP2. Check on Sygate's site for tech
support issues with SP2.

I run Sygate Personal Firewall with SP2 - no problem
Sygate was installed before SP2 and not recognized by SP2

No problems here. One machine had Sygate installed prior to SP2 and
the other after. I did have to disable the XP firewall manually and
then release/renew the IP address from the DHCP server to get things
running again. I noticed that the boots was a little slow the first
time while Sygate ironed out all the file changes and asked
permission to grant access once I logged on. So far so good.
