WinXP SP1 Fails to Boot

Hi folks --

My Windows XP SP1 is hanging at the XP Home Edition screen (with the
moving green bars). The computer worked fine this morning, but this
afternoon when I turned it on, it is hanging here. The last thing
that happens is the LOCK (Num, Caps, Scroll) keys flash briefly, then
it hangs -- the bars keep moving, but Windows does not load.

I can boot to safe mode, but even shutting down from there and trying
to reboot does not work.

I did not do anything different with the computer this morning, so I
am not sure why this is happening. Usually I can fix these issues on
my own, but no luck so far this time. I am running a Dell Dimension
8200.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi

Have you tried both a System Restore via Safe Mode and 'Last Known Good
Configuration'?
