WinXP Pro + SP1 Install problems!

I have a XP Pro cd which includes SP1 and I have a serious install problem!
The computer is like this:

Processor: Intel Pentium II 300 MHz (clocked to 413 MHz)
Primary Master IDE HDD: 4 Gb Seagate
Primary Slave IDE HDD: 6 GB Quantum Fireball
Secondary Master IDE HDD: 10 GB Seagate
Secondary Slave IDE CD-Rom: Sony CD-Burner

I've tried to install WinXP on the PM (Primary Master) a couple of times,
first i formatted it, installed, and it worked fine, WinXP started as it
should, I logged in w/o any problem. Then I installed Alcohol 120% and needed
to reboot.

Then the problems came! When it tried to boot from the CD, it should try
from the PM but it just hung up... Nothing happened. I tried to install
again, preperation worked fine, but when it has copied the needed files to
the drive it restarts, to start the setup, but then it hung on the exact same
place!
NOTE! I formatted the disc with NTFS!

Then I tried to install again, but this time the format fails everytime, on
all discs!
And everytime i try to format it fails! I've tried with different sizes,
formats and nothing works!
It fails, what should I do?

4 GB master & windows xp,youre at the min. in hd space, why not use the
10 GB instead..Either way,try disconnecting all hds but C:,start pc,install
xp cd,
boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter for password, select 1 for C:,type:DiskPart
In DiskPart,delete the partition,create one,press ESC key,type:
FORMAT C: /FS:NTFS When its thru, type:EXIT Reboot to xp cd,install xp..

i appriciate the support but ive already tried that, and the 10gb is the
backup of the documents and files i needed to save...

i managed to install win me, and i tried to do an upgrade, and it hung up
when is was to continue the install after the reboot... so im thinking of
using an other winxppro cd (with my key ofcourse), but the cd has nothing
more than a few minor schratches (from normal usage)... but hope it will
work...

Providing that you have a real ME cd (not a manufacturer restore disk)
you don't need to install Windows ME do do an XP upgrade. Just boot the
computer with the Windows XP cd and do a full NTFS format on the disk
then proceed to install Windows XP. When the setup program finds no
prior Windows to upgrade it will inform you accordingly and ask that you
insert your previous Windows cd in the drive, once the setup program has
satisfied itself that you own a previous qualifying Windows version it
will proceed and install Windows XP cleanly. Your 4GB is almost
woefully too small for a Windows XP installation. While you will be
able to install XP on such a small drive, you will almost certainly run
into problems maintaining the installation on such a small disk. I
wouldn't install XP on anything less than a 10 to 15GB disk,

The thing is that it always failes to format, and if i format it with a
bootdisk or something, it copies the install files to the drive and then
fails to boot from the drive to continue the install, and its a real (bought)
WinXP Pro and its NOT an upgrade CD or OEM...

Now I've bought another computer (Fujitsu-Siemens) with WinXP Home (OEM) and
I dont dare to try to install WinXP Pro...

But I still want to install WinXP Pro on the other PC because its supposed
to be a localserver for storing files and connect it with another pc for LAN
games...

But i still cant install WinXP Pro... Help is needed!

How are you trying to format the drive? Are you booting the computer
with the Windows XP cd?
