I had to reinstall after getting a new hard drive and
having problems with the old one. I installed win98 in my
computer and it ran fine. Then I installed WinXP upgrade.
Everything when fine until the last 5 minutes of the end
of the installation when it shut itself down and restarts
to enable you to select a screen name. But before that
when the Windows XP logo shows it freezes. I can go into
safe mode but that is it. It will not allow me to go into
Safe mode networking, last known good config or
normal. ...Please help!!! Windows XP was on it on the old
hard drive. I even tried to reinstall it on the old hard
drive with the same results!

Thanks,

You probably have failing RAM. Test the RAM - I like Memtest86 from
www.memtest86.com - let the test run for an extended (like overnight)
period of time - unless errors are seen immediately.
