WINXP Install Problems

Hi Everyone

Hope someone can help with this. I have a P4S533-X 256 270DDR, 60
Bright Star HD, dvd and cdrw. BIOS sees everyhting, no hang ups on
boot, but unable to install WINXP, W2K3 or WIn98. I get a wide variety
of error messages during install, but invaribly the system hangs, I
reboot and all the BIOS setting are back to factory.

The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old video card
(Diamond Stealth 64) could this be the problem?

Also, anyone have trouble with using an older floppy drive?

I can give more info if needed, Thanks in advance.

If you can't install Win98 then it's not a problem with your video card.
Make sure your bios is set correctly for your CPU (multiplier and FSB
settings). I suspect that the problem has something to do with incorrect CPU
timing or memory setting. Could also be power supply related. Give more
info, what are your error messages??

Thanks for the reply Elmo

When trying WIN98 I get a MSGSVR32 GPF The old "click close or
ignore." That error message locks up the entire system. I think you
may be rgiht, when the system does lock up upon reboot I'm takenb
right to the bios settings under chip. During a XP install I make it
about 85% of the way during the file copy process and get a fatal
error with a memory address. I have disabled virus check on boot.

I will have more information tomorrow after I try again Had to
comehome and have a beer or 2 - frustration

.. Once again Thanks
