Problems installing winxp on P5GD1

Started out by trying to move my dual-boot win2k/redhat installation (2
ide disks and 2 ide opticals) to new rig containing P5GD1 and a new SATA
disk. That was a disaster. Redhat booted ok, win2k just bluescreened.
Thought maybe better off by upgrading to winxp first so I moved back to
old rig and upgraded. No problem. Moved to new rig again and tried
"restore" install. (F6-installed the IT8212 driver from floppy during
install although I'm not sure that was neccesary, that is for RAID
support, right ? Just using plain ide shouldn't demand for asus drivers
? ).
Problem was that winxp install didn't discover my newly upgraded winxp
and did a complete new install instead. The new installation booted ok
though but I discovered that I had forgot to enable periphs like LAN,
USB, serial etc in BIOS before starting installation. Enabled periphs
and rebooted. Plug and Play right ? New truckload of problems trying to
install all drivers needed. Finally gave up and removed FAT partition
from ide drive 1.
Thought I might as well re-install everything on a clean partition.
Problem now is that when trying to install without the IT8212 driver I
get a bluescreen with 0x0000007B error. When loading the IT8212 driver I
get past the screens where you select partitions etc. but then after
creating a boot partition (tried both FAT and NTFS) I'm getting prompted
to install the IT8212 driver from floppy once again ? Hitting enter
doesn't seem to have any effect, no reads on the floppy. Only option is
F3 to exit installation.

Help please ....

Thanks,

...finally found the solution by just lucky chance...
If I REMOVED the floppy just after it had been read by the F6 stuff
and then REINSERTED the floppy again when asked for the driver the 2nd
time THEN the install process read the floppy ok.
If the floppy was LEFT in the drive during the whole process then
hitting enter had no effect... Dumb, stupid software....!!!
