WinXP Home to Win2000 Professional connection

I have WinXP Home edition on my computer. I would like to remotely support
a user running Win2000 Pro Workstation.

Basically, I would like to take over his PC so that he sees exactly what I
am doing, such as choosing menu options, etc.

What is necessary on the Win2000 end for me to connect. I have 'Remote
Desktop Connection' (mstsc.exe) on my computer. Can this be used to make
the connection to Win2000 and accomplish what I need?

Thank you

Look at either NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (RDS) or UltraVNC. Both can provide an encrypted
data link to allow you to do what you want.

NetMeeting in built-in to XP and W2K and can *NOT* be upgraded. To start NetMeeting on an XP
platform go to "Start -> Run" and type conf at the command line to start the wizard. Look at this KB
article for additional help...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;233175

Please note that RDS is *NOT* compatible with XP Remote Desktop.

Get the UltraVNC server/client software and encryption plug-in from...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/
http://home.comcast.net/~msrc4plugin/

Or have the W2K Pro user upgrade to either XP Pro (preferred) or XP Home and use Windows XP Remote
Assistance...

Thanks Al. I ended up installing PC anywhere to take control of the user's
PC and it works fine.

I've never used XP Remote assistance, it like PC Anywhere where the client
has complete access to the host where both sites actually see exactly what
is going on screen, i.e. mouse movements, menu choices...?

Thanks Again
