WinXp clients internet connection too slow

Hi, we have a rather large peer - peer network ...(18 clients) and we just
recently change DSL providers. Our upload and download speeds are actually
faster than the previous provideders. One thing we noticed is that, the
internet connection to the WinXp Clients that are far ( ie 60ft and 2
switches) away from the DSL Modem is much slower than before (i.e web page
updates in 30 seconds). A Win98 client 55ft from the modem is lightening
fast (i.e, web page updates in 1 sec or less). Win98 users are very pleased
with the new speed, however, I have one very unhappy WinXp user. His machine
is the newest technology (for our office)(i.e 2GIG CPU speed). It should be
noted that we have one configuration difference: Our former provider had
the DSL Modem and Network Router as separate equipment. The new DSL Modem
does both. Any ideas as to how I can improve the internet access speed of
the WinXP clients.

Thanks Ken
